The Nature Wise organization exists to improve the environment through the production and dissemination of educational television programs and videos. These programs and videos inform the public about environmental concerns and educate viewers on ways they can help make living conditions on earth better for animals, plants and people. With tremendous population growth in the USA and extensive destruction of natural ecosystems due to development, attention must be focused on environmental preservation and conservation. We are committed to alerting people about the need to preserve and conserve land, natural resources and wildlife and showing them how they can help. |

Too often wildlife are forced to live in places humans don’t want. Made to find food in retention ponds riddled with pesticides and littered with trash…we’ve got to take better care of our wildlife.
Nature Wise, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3), nonprofit organization incorporated in the state of Florida in January of 2006.
All contributions to Nature Wise are tax deductible.
Since the widespread settlement of Florida in the mid-1800s, at least 19 species of animals and 12 species of plants have become extinct. In addition, 117 other animal species are currently endangered, threatened, or species of special concern and 413 additional plant species are endangered, threatened and commercially exploited.

Florida’s rapid growth and population growth throughout America is taking its toll on our native wildlife and on the preservation of our remaining native ecosystems and natural land. Studies show 50 thousand acres of wildlife habitat are destroyed each year in Florida for development. Habitat loss to development is the largest threat facing our native wildlife today. |
The U.S. Census Bureau projects Florida to gain more than 12 million people over the next 25 years, making Florida the third fastest growing state, behind Nevada and Arizona. With Florida’s current population of almost 18 million people, that’s a 67% increase in Florida’s population over the next 24 years. Studies show 4 out of 5 Floridians feel this addition of so many people is a problem. Fully, 59% feel this is a “very serious problem”.

If we allow overbuilding and the resulting extinction of Florida’s native flora and fauna we will not only lose an invaluable part of our natural heritage, but we will lose the opportunity to experience “quality of life” here in Florida. Not only does extensive growth compromise our wildlife, it adversely affects humans also. Uncontrolled development leads to increasingly congested traffic, fewer options for outdoor recreation, raising stress levels among residents, and higher taxes. |

History shows civilizations in the past have collapsed when they went beyond the limits of their natural environment. As American citizens, it’s our responsibility to be good stewards of the environment and do everything we can not to allow this to happen in the United States. We must make our dominion of the land “self-sustaining” and not “self-destructive” as it is today.
Fortunately, people today care more than ever about the environment and are willing to act…they simply need to be made aware of the concerns and empowered with the information they need to alter their actions which are harmful to the environment.

Perhaps the most enduring and effective conservation investment we can make is EDUCATION. With the power to transform information into insight, and awareness into action, conservation education is vital to our bountiful lifestyle here in Florida and throughout the United States. |
|
Because people are not going to invest their time or money in protecting something they know nothing about, educating people about our priceless native flora and fauna and other natural resources in America is crucial to its preservation. By empowering Floridians and Americans with the environmental awareness they need, we can utilize their help in solving our preservation issues and growth pressures. |

Nature Wise (through the television programs and videos we produce) is committed to helping Florida residents and citizens throughout the United States understand the issues facing our environment and showing them what they can do to help. |
TV stations NEVER PAY for our “make a difference” television programs so we can get our message of environmental conservation “out there” as broadly as possible.
